With the start of the new academic year comes the addition of a new member to our team. Welcome, Sergio!
Sergio is originally from Granada. He holds a Technical Degree in Audiovisual Projects and Events Production, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication, specializing in film and production. He’s also completed a Master’s Degree in New Interactive Media and Multimedia Journalism at the University of Granada.
Sergio’s academic interests focuse on new audiovisual media, particularly video games, a field in which he centered his two end of degree projects. His undergraduate final project was titled «Insert coin to play: el juego como servicio, microtransacciones y sus problemáticas» (Insert coin to play: games as a service, microtransactions, and their challenges) and his master’s dissertation was «Propuesta de una game jam como herramienta para la solución de problemas locales en el marco del proyecto Impronta Granada» (Proposal for a game jam as a tool for solving local problems within the framework of the Impronta Granada project).
Professionally, Sergio has worked as a freelance creator of educational audiovisual pieces for various projects at the University of Granada. These include the Carolvs Project (A-HUM-206-UGR18) and the FEMENEDIT (B-HUM-491-UGR18) group, contributing to the documentary “Mujer, Papel y Tijera”, which is set to premiere very soon. Outside the university, he has been involved in scientific outreach initiatives such as Pint of Science and the European Researchers’ Night. In the film industry, he has gained experience as an assistant in the coordination of extras for the TV series “Antidisturbios” and as a production assistant for the short documentary “Casa Diversa,” directed by Carmen Vidal Balanzat.
Considering his already extensive background, we believe that Sergio will be a valuable member of EC3, offering us a fresher and more communicative approach to the information we usually disseminate on our website. In return, we hope the team will be able to help him gain more experience about the world of scientific communication. Welcome aboard!
