Last 24th November something huge happened to the EC3 group: InfluScience became part of the University website. Daniel Torres-Salinas and Wenceslao Arroyo-Machado’s work on the most influential researchers using Altmetrics was recognized by the University of Granada as a useful tool to complement traditional metrics to evaluate researchers.
During the presentation of the new institutional website, the Dean Pedro Mercado highlighted the importance of this initiative and how it is the perfect tool for the University to keep in touch with its surroundings and with the world outside of academia. Then, the vice rector Esteban Romero FrĂas emphasised how this project is in line with global and European initiatives that aim at changing the way in which academia is evaluated and valued.
Lastly, Daniel Torres-Salinas and Wenceslao Arroyo-Machado explained the inner workings of the tool and the process of creating it, from the minute they had the first idea, to the first attempts to what it is now. We are beyond proud to share research group with them and we encourage everyone to visit the new website and play around a little bit. You will be looking at the future of research evaluation!
