Nicolás Robinson and María Blanco present the results of their evaluation project on transfer assessment (sexenios de transferencia) at the UIMP.

As part of the Santander summer courses, the event will address a new evaluation model promoted by ANECA through various panel discussions.

Under the title “Knowledge Transfer and Exchange Oriented Towards the Creation of Social Value”, ANECA aims to engage in dialogue with various stakeholders in the Spanish research sector to resume the debate that began in 2018 with a pilot plan. This initiative sought to recognize the impact of Spanish research beyond traditional economic indicators, such as patents or contracts with companies, which had been the main forms of transfer recognized by the Spanish R&D&I system. That pilot experience received over 16,000 applications, of which 46% were positively evaluated.

The results showed broad acceptance among researchers, particularly by giving visibility to disciplines traditionally less linked to these models, such as the Humanities, the Arts, and the Social Sciences. For ANECA, these figures reflected the interest in strengthening a system that recognizes the transfer of knowledge generated at universities to different social actors, although they also sparked debate around the evaluation criteria used.

This new meeting aims to follow up on the conclusions drawn in 2018 and promote, from within the academic community, an exchange of ideas that will drive “the design of a future call for the transfer sexennium based on evaluation criteria and quality indicators aligned with the heterogeneity of scientific practice and the principles of CoARA.”

Nicolás Robinson, together with María Blanco, a collaborator at ANECA, will take part in the panel “Evaluation Methodologies and Techniques: From Research to Transfer”, which will take place next Wednesday, July 23. Both will present the results of a project applied to sexennium evaluators, focused on analyzing how they assess applicants’ publications, particularly under the new narratives that aim to demonstrate the social value of research.

The event will be held from Monday, July 21 to Wednesday, July 23 at UIMP (Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo), as part of the Santander summer courses, featuring a diverse program oriented towards the design of a new system for evaluating knowledge transfer.
