In a new article recently published in Frontiers, our colleagues Miguel A. Ruiz-Fresneda, Evaristo Jiménez-Contreras, Carlos Ruiz-Fresneda, and Rafael Ruiz-Pérez, have attempted to clearly demonstrate through this study that global research on COVID-19 drugs and drug treatments has been massive and has reached unprecedented levels in terms of number of publications, citations, impact factor, and cooperation between countries and institutions.
The results provided here can be of great use for the development of new and existing lines of research on pharmacological treatments against COVID-19, as well as for promoting international collaboration, which in turn would help to achieve an effective cure against this horrible disease.
