We are excited to share a new algorithm presented by Nicolás Robinson-García and Elvira González-Salmón titled «WikiGenDex: A new gender identification algorithm based on open sources«.
This new algorithm uses the open source WikiGenDex due to the limitations and restrictions found in other name-based algorithms that we see within gender assignments. Information from Wikidata and the World Gender Name Dictionary was utilized to construct the algorithm.
Within the research and summarization of this creation we explain the mechanisms presented as well as validation on the operation. Also, we offer an example on how to use the algorithm and a tutorial on ways to utilize it on any name database.
