Yesterday, our team mates Elvira GonzĂ¡lez-SalmĂ³n y Victoria Di CĂ©sare officially began their PhD training with a seminar on the design of research projects, given by the coordinator of the Doctoral Program on Social Sciences, Dr. Evaristo JimĂ©nez-Contreras. They had the opportunity to learn about all the administrative issues that make up the program, clarify doubts and meet other peer students from different parts of Spain, Portugal, Italy, Brazil and even China.
The seminar took place at the Scientific Documentation Centre and consisted of the legal bases and conditions of the program, the administrative procedures that all students must complete, the theoretical and practical contents of the training activities and the schedule to take into consideration every year. An advanced PhD student and advisor also participated so as to share his experience and point out some important dos and don’ts.
In the coming weeks, Elvira and Victoria will be attending other seminars and courses organized by the Doctoral School in Humanities, Social Sciences and Law of the University of Granada and related to different subjects, such as statistics, open science, academic writing and systematic reviews. They trust that this training period will help them acquire knowledge and experience in order to better develop their research plans and PhD theses.
