Continuing with their Statistics training, Elvira GonzĂ¡lez-SalmĂ³n and Victoria Di CĂ©sare completed yet another course within the framework of their Doctoral Program on Social Sciences. «EstadĂstica para Ciencias Sociales con SPSS, Nivel Avanzado» (Statistics for Social Sciences with SPSS, Advanced Level) took place between April 17th and 18th under the guidance of Dr. Manuel Escabias, Assistant Professor in Statistics at the University of Granada and member of the COMPARE Project.

Although this advanced course was meant for SPSS software, the doctoral students are confident that they will be able to apply the contents to R language. Some of the topics addressed were:

  • Multiple linear regression
  • Factorial analysis
  • Principal component analysis
  • Cluster analysis

Elvira and Victoria also continue the personalized tutoring sessions with Dr. Escabias, as already described here, where they apply the concepts and techniques to specific datasets and research questions from their fields.
